Letters of the Tabb family [manuscript], 1847 and 1861.

In three letters, 1847, Adam Foster, "Auburn," Mathews County, Va. to "Cynthia," Foster discusses the house and grounds of "Auburn," the plantation of his son-in-law, Dr. Henry Wythe Tabb. Foster describes the living conditions of slaves as well as lumbering, oyster fishing, the Dismal Swamp and Christmas festivities in Mathews County. Also include Foster's memoirs, 1861, Dr. Tabb tells of his education at Yale and the Royal College of Surgeons, his travels in the British Isles, his voyage home in his brother, Capt. P.E. Tabb's ship, the "Philip Tabb," his life at Auburn, wives, and children.
